Danny Hoover

Danny Ray Hoover, aka “Big Giant Dan” passed from this life into heaven, Sunday, October 20th at the age of 60.

He is survived by his son, Blake (his pride and joy) and fiancé Carie of Rush Springs, OK; his parents, Bobby and Belva Hoover of Muskogee, OK; his sisters and their spouses, Shelly & Brian Kirkhart of Muskogee, OK, Sharla & Craig Conaway of Norman, OK, Karla and Carl Smith of Ft. Gibson, OK; nieces and nephews Taylor, Keifer, Caleb, Auburn, Brylee, Alyssa, Carlee, Carson, and Abby; many aunts and uncles; and special friends Vera Epperson and Renee Hoover-Payton.

Danny was born in Muskogee on September 24th, 1959, and had the good life of being an only child for ten years until Shelly, Sharla, and Karla came along. He graduated from Muskogee High School in 1978. He attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford where he played football and obtained his Bachelor degree in Industrial Education while on a scholarship (except for the $1 key deposit).

In 1990, Danny became a dad to Daniel Blake. Danny’s work experience included Zapata, Owner/Operator Spot Not Car Wash, Leisure Way Laundry, Owner of Simple Simon’s Pizza, also worked at Rush Springs Tire & Wheel, and most recently at Direct Traffic.

Some of Danny’s passions were working out, spending time with family, good ole’ games of Backgammon, “Got ya last”, “1’s 10 - 1’s 10”, and hanging out with his buddies, John Clinton and David Eaton. He will be remembered for his quick wit, humor, love and compassion for others. But most of all, his love for Jesus.

A funeral is scheduled for 11 AM, Friday, October 25, 2019 at New Community Church in Muskogee. Pastor Craig Conaway will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Danny’s life. Funeral services are under the direction of Cornerstone Funeral Home, 1830 N. York Street, Muskogee, OK.
