Jack Price

About Jack Price…

Our classmate, Jack Price, passed away on December 20, 2022, at his home in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

Jack lived in Napa throughout his childhood, in a house next to his cousin, our fellow 1965 Napa High School grad, Walt Price.  Interesting fact is that they were born on the same day!

Jack attended Napa High School. Shortly before graduation, his family moved to Sacramento, and he graduated from Hiriam Johnson High School.

He played minor league baseball but was eventually drafted and sent to Vietnam where he was an MP in the Army.  His life career was working for the US Commerce Dept.

Jack is survived by his wife, Fran, of 50+years, two sons, one daughter and 2 Grandkids.

I remember Jack very well. Beginning in the third grade when my family moved to Garfield Lane in 1955. The bus ride to Salvador Elementary School went west on El Centro from Big Ranch Rd. to pick up Jack and Walt Price, cousins as I was soon to find out. Strong, independent and confident in what they could do, on the sports field and altogether in life. In the seventh grade Jack just happened to be nearby when some brand conscious kid tried to shame me for wearing Lee's rather than Levi's jeans. (I had never heard of Levi's.) Jack boldly stepped toward the kid in a slightly intimidating way, and said loudly, "Heh!! I wear Lee's!!" I experienced his intervention as his defending me from the kind of thing 7th grade boys and girls so often must endure. Jack's confident self-awareness, and the unmistakable goodwill with which he faced the world, no doubt served him well as an MP and throughout his life. I'm sure it brought blessings to many.
