Gerald Wayne Cobb passed away February 10, 2021 at the age of 75 in Natchitoches, Louisiana after a lengthy struggle with declining health and debilitation.

Gerald was born in Natchitoches on July 12,1945, having been the third child of four born to Bernice and Johnnie Lee Cobb. He was predeceased by his parents, brother James Howard Cobb and sister Gloria Louise Cobb.

He is survived by daughters Audre Elizabeth Sizemore (son in law Greg Sizemore), Julie Claire Cobb and his son Michael Wayne Cobb, a sister, Johnette Smith. He is also survived by his grandchildren Luke Austin Sizemore, Ella Bree-Ann Sizemore and Scarlett Ann-Marie Cobb,  several nieces and nephews and longtime friend and supporter Diana Frank and her daughters Paige Moore and Dawn Anderson. Gerald excelled in football at Natchitoches High School, having graduated in the Class of 63. He was passionate about football. Like his parents, he was an avid and faithful Dallas Cowboy Fan, so much so that his mood was directly affected by each game’s outcome!

Upon high school graduation (at the age of 18) he enlisted in the United States Navy and served for four years. Gerald was a veteran of the Viet Nam War serving on the Naval ship The USS Thomaston (LSD-28) which was actively involved in combat operations against the Viet Cong. Much time was spent in the South China Sea traveling to and from ports in the Subic Bay with frequent missions to Da Nang. His ship acted as a primary control ship providing a boat haven for the U.S. Marines. While in the Navy, he made the most important decision in his life by accepting Christ as his Savior by Profession of Faith. Upon returning to his hometown, he began working for the Missouri Pacific Railway, being encouraged by his father to do so! In 1970 Gerald married Rita Ann Hedges and resided a short while in the Monroe area where they were both employed. A few years later they returned to their hometown of Natchitoches. It is there that they started their family with the births of their three children in subsequent years. Gerald worked several years with the Natchitoches Police Department before retiring achieving the rank of Lieutenant.
