Suzanne Wimberly Crews

(May 10, 1945 - April 20, 2013)

Susanne Wimberly Crews, 67, of Natchitoches, Louisiana, was called home on April 20, 2013, after a valiant 6-year battle with cancer.

Susanne, born in Mineral Wells, Texas, was a graduate of Northwestern State with a double major in English and history. After having lived in England for several years, she became an avid gardener, antique collector and Anglophile -- nothing tickled her more than a letter from The Queen of England sending well wishes upon news of her illness.

Susanne was of generous spirit. She enjoyed entertaining and surrounding herself with her many beloved friends. She was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Colonial Dames XVII Century, a sustaining member of the Natchitoches Service League, past-president of the St. Denis Garden Club, founding member of the Natchitoches Historical Society, La Papillion Book Club, member of the First Baptist Church and Couples Too Sunday School Class.

Susanne is survived by her children J. Hammond Perot, his wife Trista Perot and grand-daughter Teagan of Dallas, Texas; Kimberly Crews Stafford, her husband John Stafford and grand-daughter Skylar of Round Rock, Texas; Steven David Crews and wife Renee Crews of Natchitoches, grand-daughters Victoria Crews and Hannah Crews of Shreveport; daughter-in-law Christy Johnson of Natchitoches; sister Linnye Wimberly Daily and husband H. J. “Shawn” Daily Jr., of Natchitoches; and beloved nephews and many extended family.

She is preceded in death by her parents Dr. and Mrs. (Belle Russell) W. K. Wimberly, her loving husband William P. Crews, Jr., and her son Richard T. Johnson, Jr.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 23rd at American Cemetery on 2nd Street in Natchitoches with Rev. Lee Dickson officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home (lbch.org), the Chronic Disease Fund (cdfund.org), and MD Anderson (mdanderson.org/gifts).
