Jeff became my best friend on the lucky day late in August 1953 (4th grade?) when my family moved to Mayo Avenue. No friend since has been more loyal or important to me than Jeff. Whenever I see the video "Stand by Me" or hear the song "Good-bye my trusty friend", I think of the major mishaps and minor miracles Jeff and I shared. Jeff was born a diabetic and I was in awe of him injecting himself with insulin. He never said why me. Classmates will recall that Jeff was not tall but he was fast and wirey-- a cross between Wes Welker and Steve McQueen. Unfortunately Jeff took his own life. I have given up trying to figure out a reasom why. I have not given up wishing that he was attending our class reunion. Jim Jenkins
