Many thanks to the 2015 reunion committee for an outstanding job. Everything was great and I enjoyed the reunion a great deal In talking with various classmates I was struck by how diverse we are as a group and by how so many of us have contributed to our communities so many different ways.
The reunion was extra special for me because I got a chance to get together with a number of people who I recently learned were likely relatives of mine. Believe it or not, four classmates who also submitted DNA test kits to Ancestry.Com were identified as likely relatives of mine. Even more amazing is the fact that each person is someone who I have been fond of and admired over the years.
It was also great to see so many classmates with the same youthful spirit that I remembered from long ago. I have been in denial for a number of years about the fact that I would soon turn 65 and be eligible for most all senior citizens benefits. I don't even attempt to use any of the currently available senior discounts. I feel that there must be some mistake. I certainly am not a senior citizen. Why, I don't feel much older than the foolish teenager who walked the halls of NBHS 45 years ago.
However, after seeing so many classmates and friends who have retained their youthful spirit and zest for life, I realize that we are all in this journey together and that I have many classmates and friends to reach out to as we go forward along the way. I feel very fortunate for this.
Finally, I would also like to thank Rev Francisco Tolentino (one of my newly identified possible cousins) for his outstanding prayer just prior to his leaving to travel back to Boston. Rev Tolentino at the request of my brother from another mother, Ed Rogers, shared a prayer with some of us who were taking photos that we might all be blessed to be able to continue the good works that we do and be blessed enough to be back together again five years from now.
Perhaps going forward Rev Tolentino might be able share a prayer with all the group. I also hope that we will all blessed to see each other again in five years at the 50th reunion.
