Sherry Medeiros (Lambert)

NEW BEDFORD — Sherry L. (Medeiros) Lambert, 41, of New Bedford, died Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital surrounded by family and friends following a 7 year battle with cancer.

She was born in New Bedford, resided in Dartmouth, and most of her life in New Bedford. She was the wife of 10 years to Timothy A. Lambert and the daughter of Gilbert Medeiros and Elaine (Correia) Lucas. Prior to her illness, Sherry was employed by Primacare of Fall River, Mass. General Hospital, Chadwicks of Boston and Equiserve Trading.

She was a communicant of St. Joseph-St. Therese Church.

Sherry's passion in life was being involved in all of her children's activities, despite being terminally ill. She was involved with Cub Scouts Pack 24, The Girl Scouts, Dance Xtreme, South End Youth Athletic Association as well as a member of the PTO at Campbell School. Her last wish included taking her family to Florida to Disney World. Just weeks before her death, she boarded a plane with her family to Florida. Though she was near death, she made every attempt to enjoy herself, but more importantly to witness her children's joy. On the last day of the trip, Sherry was stricken yet again. The chances of her surviving the return flight home was dismal. But in typical Sherry style, she somehow made it. Her husband Tim spoke proudly and lovingly of his beautiful wife with those blue eyes. "Sherry never stopped fighting, her mind, her soul, her spirit continued the fight, it was her body that could no longer endure." Sherry was an inspiration to everyone through her strength, courage and love of family, friends and life itself.
