So many great memories of John in high school and for years after.  He and his family were hospitable and fun.  He was scholarly and thoughtful.  And best of all, he was warm and kind to everyone.

I was just made aware of this today.  Quite an honor.

Ah! Simply amazing man!  And I got to enjoy him at college as well!  However, we were much more in touch in HS. His love for acedamia continued apace at Bowdon (and beyond). Alas, mine did not...

"Prince of Cyprus;" member of the Pipe & Vest Club.  John lived on south Main Street.  In the winter of our junior (I think) year he would walk to school without a jacket.  I can't remember if he did this on principle or perhaps it was a dare he had going with Sperry DeCew.  By the time he got to home room in the morning he'd be so cold his arms were blue.

I'm so pleased to read your recollections of John. He was special and I miss him. We are in touch with his wife, Marjorie.

Ah, Howard/Seth, recalls John living in that big old colonial era house on Main street.  Wasn't there, on a wall in one of the upper floors, a land grant from King George III to Mrs. Mogabgab's family?  I lived just across the street on the corner or Down River Road for the first year we were in New Canaan.  How I remember the pretentious Pipe & Vest club!  And what fun that group was.  I remember John's father coming in to see us and offer to 'set us straight' after we made a muddle of the world's affairs.  Yes, a memorable character, was our John.  I just knew him that one year before graduation but I have thought of him often over the years.  Tried to reach him at one point but my (in)ability with the internet caused me to fumble my efforts.  How about his sister, Mary?  Anyone in contact with her.  Her class would have been two or three years after ours.

Hi Paul...Sadly, His sister Mary passed away shortly after John.

John's parents were just as amazing as their son!

I remember John with similar fondness as the rest of you. His family was so completely welcoming that it almost felt like a second home to me. John had depth. We spent hours in his room and living room. He hosted the after party for the Junior Plan - You Can't Take it with You. We all must leave some day, but whatever the price, I would pay it to have John back with us for a few more years.
