After high school, I moved to Miami, Florida and attended Interior Design school. Fun but mostly useless except my current coworkers sometimes bring me their paint and furniture swatches to match for them. After college, I returned home and being too lazy to look for a job started working again for my parents in their recreational vehicle business, AVS Camper Center.
I have the best child you could ask for. She is the retail manager at CrackerBarrel in Wichita.
I have wonderful grand-DOGs, Jackson and Remington.
Became an EMT to help out the volunteer service in Arlington. Took my paramedic and fire science training from Hutchinson Community College.
Meanwhile it turns out my parents were never going to retire as long as I hung out and they wouldn't commit to selling and retiring, so when Sedgwick County EMS asked me if I wanted to get paid as a paramedic, I said yes and have been there since 1995.
I loved my job, the service runs around 70,000 calls a year. Sometimes my day was filled with sadness but on others we can actually make a difference in someone's life.
I have delivered 10 babies which is my LEAST favorite type of call to be on. My favorite calls are when I can help a veteran or a homeless person.
I retired in 2018 and moved to Overland Park KS.
