For almost every rabbit season during high school Jim, Bob Smoot &  I went rabbit hunting in the fields around Jim's house on Saturdays.  Can you imagine the three of us with GUNS!!??  The rabbits really didn't stand a chance when we were in the field. Surprisingly enough, that was one of the few times we were fairly serious.  Most of the time... except once while walking down the railroad tracks we found a frozen, and very dead fox.  At that time there was a bounty on foxes in Hamilton county and we thought we ought to see if we could get it.  The problem was that you had to present the fox for verification.  So, there wasn't anything else to do but put in in Jim's garage over the weekend. Well, we all got involved in other things and forgot all about the fox. Right up until Jim's Dad started smelling something awful in the house.  We never did get the bounty for that fox.  Football, basketball, and big game hunting, that's how I remember Jim. For some reason Jim being a guidance counselor in high school and getting paid for it seems a stretch.  But I'm sure that he was good at it, and one of the student's favorites.  Heck, he had gotten away with so much stuff that he had to give them great advise!!  What a teacher he must have been - another Bill McClain!
