Learning of Jean’s passing is breaking my heart. I first met Jean sometime around 1957. Possibly in the 4th grade. We went to John Adams Elementary School in Lawton, Ok. Jean and I became fast friends. My Dad was still in the Army and we left for Germany coming back to Lawton within a year. I had the most terrible crush on Jean, but she never knew it. I pined for her the entire year in Germany. When we came back to Lawton, I remember telling my Dad, we had to live in the same area, because I had to go back to John Adams. Well, we did. Jean and I renewed our friendship. My Dad retired and we went back to his home in Durant. We came to Norman when I started the 9th grade at CJHS. Then comes the 10th Grade and NHS. Who do I run into the first day is Jean. We were both thrilled at seeing each other again. Our friendship was as we had never parted. Jean was one of those special people that never had a bad word to say about anyone. The thought of her passing leaves a big hole in my heart. Bless you my old friend.

SO sorry to hear this news. It's always hard to hear of a friend passing that sat next to you in school.  I dated Jean briefly (before she dumped me for someone else....LOL) and always had a crush on her.  She was beautiful inside and out. Truly a really nice person.  I was really hoping to see her at the 50th. RIP dear Jean.

Very sorry to learn of her passing.

Jean always had a smile and a pleasant comment to offer.

May she rest in peace.

It was shocking to learn of Jeannie's passing. It says something about her that all the guys that knew her had a crush on her and all of the girls that knew her liked her. I pray that she enjoys eternal peace and a reunion with her beloved husband.

This news just takes your breath away. What a terrific person. Jeanne made you feel great, like you were the focus of the conversation. Always had that terrific smile, always, great hugs ! After years had gone by, we met again at Harold's, Ft Worth. I will never forget seeing her that day years ago.

Jeanne, GOD Bless. You have no pain, no discomfort now. Your beautiful smile is everlasting.

Thank you for posting. Though not a close friend, Jean had an important role in my high school experience. I was insecure and Jean always greeted me. She really always was smiling, and she was so authentic. It is sad to loose such a person so young. I'm sorry for her family and close friends. Prayers go out to all.

So sorry to hear of Jean's passing. She was a sweet girl in high school, and I am sure her goodness followed Her into adulthood. My prayers are with her and her family.

I remember Jean as such a sweet and loving person. She was always kind and friendly to me even though we didn't have classes together. I always wished I knew her better. In the last couple of years we talked on the phone and online as I would work on getting in touch with her for our reunion. We formed a nice friendship which I will always treasure. She is gone far too soon.

Rest in Peace My Friend,

Carol Hickman Haynes
