In Memory

Glenda Lou Gesin (Steves)

Glenda Lou Gesin Steves

God gently called Glenda Lou Gesin Steves home Thursday evening, Sept 29, 2021, with her family by her side.

Glenda was born March 1, 1948, to Hattie and Lee Gesin in Cushing, Oklahoma. After a move to Tulsa, the family settled in Norman where Glenda graduated from the Norman High School class of 1966. She attended the University of Oklahoma, where she was active in the Baptist Student Union and completed a degree in Elementary Education. While at OU, she met her husband Charles Robert (Bob) Steves. They married Jan 25, 1969, and enjoyed 52 years together of faith, commitment, family, romance, laughter, and travel adventures. Bob's sacrificial care and devotion for Glenda over the years were a testimony to their love and an inspiration to others.

Known as "GiGi" to her seven grandchildren, Glenda's absence will be felt by her family and friends forever, only surpassed by her enduring legacy. Glenda's Christian faith was the foundation of her life. She was known to be generous with all that God had given her. She was a gifted teacher and lifelong learner – both in the classroom and in life.

She was an adored wife, cherished mother, steadfast sister, beloved cousin, dear aunt, and a treasured friend. While the last few years were some of the most challenging for Glenda, God lavished her with loving friends, family, caregivers, and doctors to help her during this final chapter.

Glenda is survived by her husband Bob; daughter Rebecca Hall, husband Michael; son Clay Steves, wife Kirsten; Sisters: Debbie Smith and Cathy Little, husband Dave; Cousin: Linda Kay Gesin Schirmer, husband John. Grandchildren: Lillian & Olivia Hall, Noah, Gavin, Isaac, Graham & Noelle Steves. Nephews: Austin Little, wife Donna; Blake Smith; Nate Schirmer. Nieces: Alea Smith, Courtney Wilkinson, Andrea Fletcher, Rachael Helmers, Ellen Steves; She is preceded in death by her mother, father, and niece, Andrea Little Nagelschneider.

Services will be held at First Baptist Church, Edmond, OK April 9th, 2022. 10am: Meet and Greet with family. 11:30am: Celebration of Life service.

In lieu of flowers, her family would appreciate charitable donations in memory of Glenda to organizations that helped them tremendously: The Brain Support Network, PO Box 7264, Menlo Park, CA 94026 or The Multiple System Atrophy Coalition Memorial Donation. 7918 Jones Branch Dr. Suite 300. McLean, VA 22102.

Glenda was a good friend and very kind. I am sure she will be missed greatly. Unfortunately I lost track of her and Bob after collage. Mostly my fault.....

As you read this lovely obituary it reminds us of her sparkling character. She was one of the best of the best.
