James A. Mitchell

James Arnold Mitchell, of Norman, passed away Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, in Norman at the age of 60 years.

James Arnold Mitchell was born Dec. 22, 1955, in Oklahoma City. He was the son of Elery Arnold and Laura Gertrude (Cooper) Mitchell. He grew up in Norman attending Norman Public Schools, graduating from Norman High School in 1973. Following his education, he married and had two sons. He began his career as a collision specialist in the auto body industry. On May 5, 2001, he married the love of his life, Marqueta Streetman, in El Reno and they settled in Norman, growing the family to another son and two daughters. He loved spending time with his family and friends, helping people, working on projects in his shop and collecting old cars and guns.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one son, James A. Mitchell Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Marqueta Mitchell of the home; two sons, Jesse Mitchell and wife Lindy of Norman and Danny Shipman and Niki Starcevich of Norman; two daughters, Stepheney Stimac and husband Matt of Howe and Kaylene Moore and husband Michael of Norman; seven grandchildren, Selena, Dustin, Savannah, Mickayla, Kaydenze, Noah and Maverick; one brother, Ronald Mitchell and wife Sandy of Norman; and numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and many friends.

Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Primrose Funeral Service chapel. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park.

Services have been entrusted to Primrose Funeral Service.
