Gary S. Stowe

Gary S. Stowe

Gary Stephen Stowe, 62, passed away on Saturday, May 26, 2018. He was born to Nadine and Charles Stowe on May 7, 1956, in Norman, Oklahoma. Gary was the second of four boys in the Stowe family. As he grew up, he developed a love of football and the outdoors. Gary played football for Norman High School as a cornerback and halfback, and he set a school record for three interceptions in one game. His love of football led him to be a dedicated Oklahoma football fan, and on any given Fall Saturday, he spent his weekends cheering on the team. He loved fishing, golf, and being a grandfather. Gary had several jobs, including one in woodworking. His love of woodworking developed into a career as a custom furniture builder. He also loved dogs, which led him to meet Karen, his wife of almost twenty years.

Gary is survived by his wife, Karen Stowe of Oklahoma City; mother, Nadine Stowe of Norman; daughter, Stephanie Stevenson and spouse Tiffany of Edmond; granddaughter, Haven Evans and grandson, Colby Ozimek; siblings, Charles Stowe and wife Rita of Guthrie, James Stowe and wife Harriet of Durant, Danny Stowe and wife Elizabeth of Norman; and multiple other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and father, Charles Stowe.

Gary’s favorite song was “Dust in the Wind” by Kansas, so please think of him each time you hear this song or hear someone yell “Boomer Sooner!”  Viewing will be Thursday, May 31 from 12-9pm, with family present from 7-9pm, and will also be available on Friday, June 1 from 9am-9pm.

This was very sad news for me to hear.  I’ve recently reacquainted with Gary through Randy Stansberry.  We’ve played golf together at a number of our class events. You could always count on Gary for some solid one-liners, not to mention he could take your head off on the football field. Feeling kinda hollow right now.  Till we meet again Brother! Virg
