Sherri Lynn Merrell
On December 20th, 2013, Sherri (Sher) Lynn Merrell left her earthly body and entered into Heaven to sing with the Angels. She was born Jan. 26th, 1956, in San Antonio, TX, but lived most of her life in Norman. Sher attended Norman schools, Blackwood Business College, the University of Oklahoma, and studied Facilities Management at MIT in Cambridge, MA. She was employed at OU in the Engineering Dept., and more recently volunteered at Norman Regional Hospital and as a literacy tutor with the Norman Public Library. Sher’s greatest passions were her grandchildren, her love of singing, music, learning to play guitar and the choir at St. John's Episcopal Church where she was introduced to bell choir. Sher is survived by her mother & husband, Vivian and William Benge; her son and daughter-in-law, Kyle and Kristie Guttery; her grandchildren, Wyatt, Shelby, and Jake; sister and husband, Debbie and Mark Schwartz and their son, Jonathan; brother, Mike Merrell of Fredericksburg, VA, her aunts and uncle, and numerous cousins. The family would like to express their gratitude to the congregation of St. John’s Episcopal Church and her friends there who gave her support and encouragement. A special memorial service will be held Monday, January 6th, 2014 at 2:00p.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Norman.
