Gayla Sue Matthews (Allen)

Gayla Sue Allen, 55, passed away Friday, April 1, 2011, in Norman.

She was born Dec. 15, 1955, in Monterrey Park, Calif.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Blackburn Cemetery with Chaplain Harry Smith officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of McMahans Funeral Home in Noble.

Gayla moved with her family to Oklahoma as a teenager and graduated from the Noble High School. She and Mr. Rod Allen were united in marriage on May 14, 1975.

They both worked and helped operate the Allen’s Floor Service in Noble until the death of Rod’s father. The couple then became the owners and operators until Rod’s death.

Gayla loved her family and grandchildren, she enjoyed gardening, music and always loved and had a dog.

She was preceded in death by her father and one brother, Glenn Matthews.

She is survived by her mother, Pat Jones and her husband, Dan of Lexington; two sons, Tyler and Matt Allen, both of Norman; one daughter, Shayla Roberts and husband Boyd of Ardmore; two sisters, Charlotte Sewall and husband Brian of Wewoka and Sheryl Shobert of Noble; four grandchildren, Holden, Gabriel, Imogen and Wyatt and other relatives and friends.
