"Chrissy Hunsberger is with Janice Hunsberger.
October 4, 2018

Many of you don't know, but on June 22nd my dad broke his femur. Shortly after we found out he had Stage 4 Lung cancer. Last night my Dad took his last breath. This has been the hardest time of my life. I have stayed pretty quiet about it. I know that many of you met my dad and know how funny, sweet, caring, and strong he was. That's how I am going to remember him too. He fought to the end on this one. My family and I are going to take the time we need to grieve through this, but your memories with him are a part of that. Everytime I step into the batters box, I'll hear him yelling from the sidelines, "HIT THE DAMN BALL!" I love you Dad and miss you so much already!"

Mike Da-Dad Hunsberger

I said goodbye to a great friend and a wonderful person today. A high school friend from many years ago. Of course back then we didn’t call him ‘Da-Dad’. More than likely 50 years ago he was Da-Boy. When we both graduated like many high school friends, we didn’t see each other for 40 years. We retired about the same time.

Mike was such a caring person. I would see social media pictures of all his volunteer service where he spent most of retired life. He spent his time giving back to Veterans, Community, Kids … He joined Rotary in 2013 and participated in many such events until later leaving to serve full time as the Rolling Thunder organization demanded his full attention as president.

I have three vivid permanent memories of Mike

#1 - His bigger than life smile. His smile was totally charming and made him many friends as he knew everyone and they knew Mike. Guess what, I met his kids and they inherited that smile. 😊 Oh my, could he make me laugh, we had a lot fun the last 10 years.

#2 - That absolutely outrageous mustache. So envious, I would have given anything to be able to sport that !

#3 - His amazing devotion to his family. People not on Facebook may not know, Mike posted a beautiful picture of flowers or a floral bouquet dedicated to his wife Janice every morning. Every single day of the year ! He told his friends how lucky he was to have Janice in his life.

RIP Da-Dad, we miss you
