Ron and I both married "Deep Cove Chicks" and that has kept us in close contact through the years.  I always enjoyed his company and we went on outings together many times over the years including a weekend of RV camping last summer.   Having a very hard time getting used to the fact that he has left us.  Hugs to Muggs and the children, my heart is with you.

Although I didn't know Ron all that well, I enjoyed his contributions to our website and his interactions about whatever was going on.    His passing comes as such a shock as he seemed to be enjoying good health and whatever life was offering.    My deepest condolences to his family.    R.I.P. Ron.        Mavis (Rollingson) Creech

From Ted Willcox in Memory of his good friend Ron Houlden

Sad news this morning when I turned on my computer and read the message from Ken Matheson that another of my very good friends Ron Houlden had passed away on Sat.

Ron and I first met when I was 11 and Ron was 10, my family and I had moved to 11th street just a few doors up from Ron. The move was on Ron's Birthday and later he would tell people I was his Birthday present (smile). We had many, many, good times growing up together.

Later on after graduation I went to VVI (Vancouver Vocational Institute) to take an electrical course, the first day of class in walks Ron. I was very surprised and said to Ron what are you doing here? Ron was on holidays and got back the day of my first class and went to my house to call on me, my parents told him I had enrolled in an electrical class at VVI. I don't know how he did it, but he enrolled that day and managed to get into my class, persuasion was one of Ron's strong points!

We would jump in Ron's Lowboy Studebaker and drive to 15th street just east of Lonsdale and park, from there we would take the bus the rest of the way to VVI. On the way to the bus we would pass a beauty parlor, and in that beauty parlor worked Marg, who would become the love of his life and his Wife.
I will miss Ron dearly and my deepest sympathies to Marg and Family.
