March 10, 1940 - May 1, 2013
Dave passed away at Campbell River hospital after a long and courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). He is survived by his daughters Kim (Brian) and Paddy (Brent), his son Tyke (Sheena), his grandchildren Graeme, Garret and Mitchell Westdorp and Bradley and Taylor Perry, his brothers George (Lorraine) and Bert, his sister Beryl (Roger), and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister, Irene and parents Harold and Dorothy. He will also be missed by his special friend Jackie and many friends in Campbell River and Texas and our family friend, Shirley Fudge. His family and friends will always remember his zest for life, his determination to live life on his own terms and his wonderful sense of humour. A service of remembrance will be held at the Sequoia Springs Golf Club, 700 Peterson Road, Campbell River from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2013. Please bring your special memories to share. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the ALS Society would be much appreciated. "Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and proudly proclaiming, "Wow what a ride!" (M. Hinckley)
