This is my chance to pay tribute to Caroline who many of you will remember as a sweet, often funny, and loving person. Caroline died a few years back after a couple of years of failing health from heart disease. Her second husband, John, cared for her in their home and after a year or so, she improved and was able to get out and about again, very grateful to him. Caroline had many accomplishments. Her marriage to John, a talented singer and musician originally from Fiji, provided a perfect partner for her  to excell in Hawaiin, Tahitian and Polynesian dancing. She taught many people around the Vancouver area and she performed regularly with John and later their son, Camoy. The last time I saw Caroline (on a visit to Vancouver), she and John and a group of her dancers were performing at the White Rock Home for the aged in a medley of Hawaiin songs and dances. The old folks loved the entertainment. Though we didn't see each other often over the years, whenever we did get together, our reconnection was immediate. I carry the memory of her  and her sunny disposition in my heart. - Sheila

Came across this newspaper clipping of Caroline and her husband. The caption below the photo reads: "Polynesian theme will redominate at the August 7 poolside party planned by the West Richmond Recreation Centre Association, an annual event held at Steveston swimming pool. Caroline and John Fatiaki get into the mood for the entertainment, as John is band leader for the occasion. Photo by Brian Lee."
