Dave Fisher

FISHER, MR. DAVID S. Husband of Karen L. Fruitport Mr. David S. Fisher, age 62, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2013 after a short, but courageous battle with brain cancer. He was born in Grand Haven on October 5, 1950 to Harold and Joyce (McFall) Fisher and was a life resident of the area. Dave was a veteran of the United States Air Force and had served in the Vietnam War. He was currently serving as Muskegon County Drain Commissioner, but had spent his entire 40 year career committed to the people of Muskegon County. Dave's love for public service showed through in his dedication to the community and if he couldn't help you, he would find someone that could. He was a member of Fellowship Reformed Church where he served as a past deacon. Dave was an avid golfer and outdoorsman; from hunting to fishing to mushroom hunting, he enjoyed it all. Above all, Dave was passionate in everything he did. It didn't matter if it was his family, work, hobbies, relationships, or the people of Muskegon County, Dave gave it everything he had. On February 13, 1998, Dave married the former Karen L. Webster in Muskegon and she survives him along with five children, Stephen (Heather) Fisher, Leah (John) Romer, Christina (Rodney) Davenport; Stefanie (Andy) Sievers and Joseph (Fiancee Jessica) Fisher; one step-son, Thomas (Alinda) Boukamp; 14 grandchildren (#15 due in April); one brother, Richard "Rick" (Diana) Fisher; dear friend, Joe Spellman; his cat, Little Mama; his faithful dog, Mollie and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. According to Dave's wishes, no services will be held.
