The California Ballroom is just a few blocks from Lake Merritt in Oakland's financial district. Built in 1926 as the grand ballroom of the elegant Leamington Hotel, it showcase a majestic 45-foot gold leaf ceiling, a 500 square foot stage, and a 700 square foot dance floor, prehaps the largest in the Bay Area! Renovated in 1986 to its original historic elegance, this is truly one of the bay area's last landmark.The California Ballroom showcase a majestic high ceiling lined with gold -leaf wall panels all in traditional Deco-style motifs. A claret carpet and burgundy drapries contrast handsomely with the creamed- colored walls and gold detailing above the doors and mirrors. Oakland's most elegant and unique location
