Richard Lee Whitley

May 16, 1963 - February 10, 2001

DALLAS - Richard Lee Whitley, 37, was born May 16, 1963, and passed away Feb. 10, 2001.

Richard is survided by his loving wife of nine months, Christine Whitley of Irving; mother, Betty Whitley of Carrollton; sister, Karen Martin of Carrollton; mother-in-law, Amber Benson and husband Gary Aitken of Montana; father-in-law, Paul McEwen and wife Penne OBoyle of Plano; nieces, Jana Grasty and Stephanie Martin; and brother-in-law,  Ian McEwen and wife Trudy Hodges of Colorado.

Rick, beloved husband, son, brother, and friend, now passed away as a result of a scuba diving accident, touched the lives of so many people in so many special ways. His positive outlook, his quick wit and delightful sense of humor, his helpfulness and caring ways brought joy to all. Rick knew no strangers; everyone he met soon came to feel a part of his family. He died as he lived, in an activity he loved and participated in with full passion, but it seemed to all he left behind that it was too soon. He was too young; words cannot express the sense of loss that those who love him feel. But in spite of the loss, we celebrate his life; no other brought to us what he did.  
          
                                      
          Visitation is from 7 to 9 p.m. today, Feb. 15, 2001, at
                       Sparkman-Dickey Funeral Home.
                                     
      Services are to be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, at St.
      Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church. Interment to follow at
                          Hillcrest Memorial Park.
