Hal was a wonderful friend and always dependable. Marilyn Jones Thornley and I nearly drove him crazy in his little car singing in his ear and laughing. He went right along with us in the laughing part. He was never at a loss for a smile or a helping hand as he gave them to all of us first. You will be truely missed Hal.

Hal and I remained close friends right up to the end. We always looked forward to our annual camping trip, just the two of us. In 50 years, we only missed one or two. We had several favorite spots including Cave Falls on the SW corner of Yellowstone Park and the East Fork of the Black's Fork of the Green River in the Uintahs. Hal's favorite thing, though, was to explore for new and remote spots including those along the Lewis and Clark trail which we explored for several years.

Hal was a remarkable individual and family man. I had the good fortune of attending a celebration of his life with his family. The outpouring of love from his wives (both his ex and present were there), children and grand children was remarkable. He will be dearly missed but fondly remembered.

Frank
