Bill Degn

Bill left us very unexpectly on October 1st 2013 after a sudden unset of cancer.  He was so looking forward to coming to this year's reunion. Bill was born in Salt Lake City, but lived most of his growing up years in Ogden.  His life was one adventure after another.  First the Air Force, then working for Skaggs in Texas, Arkansas, and Oklahoma.  Coming back to Utah to become a ski patrol member at Snow Basin. Next a fire fighter for weber county in Eden, the place that in lived in and loved.  After a medical retirement, on to Hawaii for 4 years sitting on the beach with a cool one and listerning to Jimmy Buffett song.  He shared most of these asventures with his wife Carla Jean Roberts, whom he married in 1982.  They had a daughter, Jessica.  He also had two sons, Christopher and Tony.  He is also has 4 grandchildren.  We will miss him when we when we meet again.

I miss Billy. We've known each other since the seventh grade. When we were in high school, we used to sneak down to the Porter's and Waiter's Club on 25th Street to lsten to some really top drawer jazz. Occasionally, we'd get to sit in and jam with the black train workers, who were really something.. We both remember the times we heard and talked with Joe McQueen, who is still one of the greats. Billy and I kept in touch when he was in Hawaii, and always threaoened to get together but never did. One of the great old South Ogden guys.
