John Hansen was one of my very best friends. We grew up together in the Ogden 14th ward and went to school together from Birch Creek to Weber High. I am very sad to hear of his death. We did so many things together as boys growing up. We rode our bicycles everywhere. We played basketball in the church until they would kicked us out. I will never forget John Hansen. Gary Palmer

Johnny and I were good friends during our youth. He was a great baseball player, basketball player, and all-around good guy. Like Gary Palmer, Johnny and I grew up in the old Ogden 14th Ward where we had many wonderful memories. He had a relative named Jim Bridger (I swear that was his name) who had a small ranch up by East Canyon Reservoir. We used to go up there, ride Jim's old horse, and shoot magpies, taking their feet and wings to the Post Office in Ogden to collect the bounty. At that time, I think it was $.10 each. We made enough to keep us in .22 shells! John married a friend and neighbor of mine, Ann Tracy - keeping the South Ogden 'family' going.

John had the world's greatest smile and he always got you out of a bad mood with his jokes and his wonderful laugh. I'm sad that I won't get to hear that laugh again. You're missed.
