On December 3, 2007 Karen passed away in Huntsville. She was born in Ogden on August 26, 1941. She grew up in Huntsville.

Karen married Glen W. Deem on June 8, 1960 in Salt Lake City. They had four children, 13 grandchildren and  two great grand children. She is also survived by three brothers.

Karen was a member of Bee Hive Rock and Gem Club and The Golden Spike Gem and Mineral Society. She worked at Valley Elementary School for more than thirty years. Her duties included playground supervisor, class room aide and office aide. A life long member of the LDS Church, she held positions in the Relief Society, young women's, and Primary. She also served three missions to the Genealogical and Family History Libraries in Ogden.
