Joy and I were friends from eighth grade until her untimely death in 2007.  I lived with her family the summer after high school and then we went to Omaha University together and majored in Elementary Education.  We taught for several years and then started raising families.  Our children grew up together and are still close friends. Joy tutored for many years and was sorely missed by her students.  Joy was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in  early 2007 and died within 4 months.  I miss those early Monday morning calls from her to this day.

Thank you, Mary Jane, for telling us more about Joy...she always had a wonderful energy...she lived up to her name...and she was very kind as well...I'm glad to know she became a teacher...

Joy was one of my best friends in High School.  I remember the slumber parties, surprise birthday parties and just walking around Benson on a Saturday afternoon.  There was also the time that we TP'd Mark Babcocks house (or maybe it was Greg Loso) and got caught!  My Mom was the get-a way driver.  The friendship continued even tho I moved away for over 30 years.  I'd come back to visit and have lunch or just get together with Joy and Mary Jane.  Friendships are a gift and I am thankful that Joy was one of mine.
