ONEIDA - Ronald E. Whitbeck, 71, of 509 Devereaux St., Oneida went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at University Hospital with his family surrounding him.

Born on Sept. 4, 1936 in Albany, he was a son of the late George H. and Helen Read Whitbeck.
He graduated from Bethlehem Central High School in 1954, and the State University of Brockport in 1958 and received his masters degree from the State University of Oswego.
Ron married the love of his life L. Antoinette Seifert on Jan. 20, 1962.
Mr. Whitbeck was a Social Studies teacher for 40 years in the Oneida City School District prior to his retirement in 2000. In his retirement he enjoyed substitute teaching at Oneida High School.
He was an Elder at Calvary Temple Church for many years, a member and past president of the Oneida Teachers Association, and vice president of the Oneida Retired Teachers Association. He also enjoyed volunteering at the Stanley Theater.
Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Toni; a daughter, Cassandra King of Rochester; two sons, Ronald T. and his wife, Donna of Morrisville and Kevin A. and his wife, Jessica of Pasadena, Md.; one grandson, Johnathan and five granddaughters, Allison, Elizabeth, Alexandra, Cathleen and Olivia; a sister, Marge Hoffman and a brother, Richard Whitbeck both of Albany; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday at the Ironside Funeral Home, Inc.
Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery in Albany.
Calling hours will be 1-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, 342 Main St., Oneida. Contributions may be made to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of America, CNY Chapter, 401 N. Salina St., Suite 304, Syracuse, NY 1320
