John A. Amann

Biography: John A. Amann, 73, of Lenox Avenue, Oneida, passed away at home on Sunday, February 26, 2023, after a brief illness.
Born in Oneida on June 1, 1949, he was the son of John J. and Ruth Leonard Amann. A lifelong resident of Oneida, John was a graduate of Oneida High School. He married Jeanette Chesebro in St. Joseph’s Church, Oneida on June 3, 1972. Mrs. Amann died on August 31, 2019.
Prior to his retirement, John was employed with the former Sears store in Oneida and had previously been employed by the former Oneida Heater. John enjoyed playing the lottery, especially scratch offs and Take 5. He could often be found watching sports on television and had a great love for animals.
Surviving are: one daughter, Lori (Eric) Threadgill of North Carolina; two grandchildren, Zack (Kayla) VanVorst and Cody VanVorst; two great-grandchildren, Jason VanVorst and Liam VanVorst; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved rescue dog, Tyler. Funeral services will be held 1PM Friday, from the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main Street, Oneida, with the Reverend Tony Tosti, officiating. Spring interment will be made in Valley View Cemetery. Contributions may be made in John’s memory, to an animal shelter or animal organization of your choice.
