ONEIDA -- Cassius M. "Cash" Carmon III, age 61, of Sherman Street, passed away unexpectedly Thursday May 17, 2012 in the Oneida Healthcare Center.
He was born on July 21, 1950 in Canastota, N.Y., son of Cassius M. Jr. and Mary L. (Colmey) Carmon and was a graduate of Oneida High School.
On April 29, 1969 Cash entered the U.S. Navy and served for two years before being honorably discharged on Jan. 4, 1971.
In 1975 he married the former Donna Glynn. He later married Elaine Hall in 2004. He retired from Owl Wire as a machine operator in 2008 to take care of his wife Elaine who passed away on June 17, 2009.
Cash was a member of the Bum's Club of Sherrill, Durhamville Veterans Club, the Owls Nest of Oneida and Canastota American Legion Post. He enjoyed fishing, watching NASCAR and was an avid New York Giants and New York Yankee fan.
Surviving are: his two daughters, Kerri Carmon of Chittenango, Lindsay Carmon of Oneida; one grandson Jacob Carmon, who was the apple of his eye; his parents, Cassius Jr. and Mary Carmon of Oneida; two sisters Kathleen Carmon of Trenton and Sister Luanne Carmon of Utica; his former wife Donna Glynn Carmon of Oneida; and many friends with special mention of Daryl Wilcox and his beloved canine companion Hansey. 
Family and friends are invited to call on Monday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 464 Sherrill Road, Sherrill. Mr. Carmon's funeral service will be held Monday at 6 p.m. at the funeral home immediately following calling hours. Mr. Carmon's burial with military honors will be on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in St. Helena's Cemetery, Middle Road, Oneida, N.Y.
