Sherrill - Richard J. Hatch, 45, of 408 Park St., died late Sunday morning, August 21, 1994, at his home after a long illness.
Mr. Hatch was born Dec. 7, 1949 in Oneida, the son of Stanley Doris Snyder Hatch. He was a Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Central School graduate and was active in the sports programs.
He was a former Section III basketball All-Star at both Oneida High School and VVS Central School.
Mr. Hatch continued his sports activies in the Sherrill-Oneida area, participating in the MUNY softball and basketball leagues until his illness.
He married the former Cathy Foster, April 24, 1994 in Sherrill. Mr Hatch worked for Sherrill until retiring due to his illness.
He was Protestant.
Surviving besides his wife are one son, Aaron Hatch of Sherrill; two stepsons, Shawn and Nathan Chapa at home; his mother of Sherrill; three brothers, Ronald Hatch and Kevin Hatch of Oneida and Stanley Hatch of Webster; Three sisters, Mrs. Eugene (Janet) Candee, Mrs Clifford (Sharon) Wittmand and Mrs. Dennis (Cindy) Tormey of Sherrill; and several nieces and nephews.

Raymond Fisher

What a guy. Always had your back and willing to give you the shirt off his back. I don't think there will be another basketball and softball player like him in quite a few years. I visited him a few days prior to him passing and his mind was sharp and a tack and will always remember him at "Petes" with those crazy stripped uniforrms. I have missed him dearly. 8/17/09//Ray Fisher
