Joan I. Noto, age 65, of Williams Street, passed away early Saturday morning, Feb. 6, 2016 at her home with her loving family at her side after a courageous battle with cancer.
Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 5- 7 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home 464 Sherrill Rd., Sherrill. A celebration of Joan's life will be at a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016 at 11 a.m. at St. Helena's Church, 210 Primo Ave., Sherrill. Burial will be in St. Helena's Cemetery, Oneida, N.Y. The time goes by so quickly...I can still remember being one of the "tall" gals and Joan, Maureen and I would be at the back of line. Joan always displayed such a gentle side. I do remember her fondly. May her family find the strength to say good-bye but to hold on to the memories they shared for a lifetime. My deepest sympathy to all who knew her.

Joan was one of my first childhood friends. She and her family (including sister Patty and brother Jim) lived a few doors down from my grandparents. Joan, Patty and I would have "tea" together, also played Old Maid and of course we had our babies (dolls!). She was a quiet, gentle soul.

Yes, Joan was a quiet gal...I will always remember asking her to dance at a church sponsored activity. I am sure the community will miss her. May she look upon us with her bright eyes as we keep her and her family in our thoughts and prayers.
