Shirley Herringshaw Obituary
Oneida-Shirley A. Herringshaw, 74, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at Rome Memorial Hospital.
She was born on April 23, 1949, in Oneida, the daughter of the late William and Laura Chesebro Herringshaw. Shirley was raised in Oneida and graduated from Oneida High School. On August 11, 2011, in Canastota, Shirley was united in marriage to Tena Roche. Together, they enjoyed a 34-year loving and joyous union. She retired from H.P. Hood in Oneida, following 28 years of dedicated service. Shirley had previously worked at Stanton Paper Box Company. She would brighten anyone’s day with her glowing smile and her humorous wit. Throughout her journey in life, Shirley made numerous friends and cherished her relationships. She was a devoted Yankee’s Baseball Fan and a Giants and Buffalo Bills football supporter. She also loved western movies, and even more so if John Wayne was the star of the movie. Shirley cared deeply for the birds that would come to her bird sanctuary. Shirey’s love and wit will be missed by all that were part of Shirley’s world.
Shirley is survived by her loving and caring spouse Tena; her siblings: Jeannie James, Debbie Herringshaw, Linda Melsko, Kenny Herringshaw, James Herringshaw, Fred Herringshaw, and Ed Chase. Shirley is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents William and Laura. Shirely was also predeceased by her siblings: Pat, Billy, Nina, Helen, and Barb.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 11 AM at Oneida Castle Cemetery.
