Meridith Simson Croucher

After I graduated from OHS, I attended the Rochester State Hospital School of Nursing in Rochester, NY. What an education! I spent 1 year at the University of Rochester, 1 year in New York City and 1 year at different facilities in Rochester. I have been working ever since with a specialty in the OR, and most recently ambulatory surgery.

I was married to my daughter's father for 7 years. I am currently married to Dean whom I met at Watkins Glen at the next to last Formula 1 race held there. We share his 2 kids, my daughter and 4 grandchildren.

I found the Sports Car Club of America in 1979. In the last (40) years I have become a National Steward. I (was) the Chief Steward for the Glen National Race at Watkins Glen International and have taken my turn periodically since. It is also the rebirth of the famous Trans Am series. In addition to being a steward, I have been a professional racing series administrator, and event organizer.

I also was the organizer for the Waste Management Susquehannock Trail Performance Rally(R) presented by Citizens and Northern Bank for last 17 years. I have had the privilege of getting to know Travis Pastrana, Ken Block and other competitors from all walks of life. The Rally is held in Wellsboro, PA and is mostly free to the public.

I am still very active in motorsports, but as I age, I have retired from Stage Rally. For Road Racing, we are only doing 3 weekends this year at Watkins Glen because of health issues.

Dean was the National Chief Steward for BMW Club racing and has retired from that position. He still is very busy with rules committee.

I have fully retired as of 2020.

My favorite is that I was inducted into the National Honor Society in my senior year, and the assembly was so secret that I was sick the day of the induction. I would have come in sick had I known.
