ARVID "BUTCH" YATES
August 18, 1943 - April 27, 2019
age 76

Butch Yates Arvid "Butch" Leonard Yates of The Villages, passed away on April 27, 2019. He was born on August 18, 1943, in Oregon, Ohio, to Arvid and Ida Yates. Butch married Sharon Kay Peterson on August 16th, 1980. Butch proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1961 to 1967. He worked at Art Iron in Toledo, Ohio. In 1995, he retired from Brinks Security after 23 years where he was Assistant Manager and Route Supervisor.

After his retirement, he worked as an Ambassador for the Lopez Legacy Golf Club in The Villages. His hobbies included golfing, bowling, hunting, shooting, watching sports, and being with family and friends.

Butch YatesHe belonged to the German American Club in Oregon, OH, and the American Legion Post 347 in Lady Lake, FL. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister Patricia St. John; and brother Jim Yates. Butch is survived by his soulmate, Sharon Kay Yates; sons Arvid T. Yates, and Lonnie Yates (Bev); Steve Hegedus (Amy); daughter Marj Miley; grandsons Todd Ridgeway (Bree); Tommy Miley (Erica); granddaughters Brach Yates, Samantha Yates (Eric), Rebecca Yates, Chrystal Lagger (Mike), Shelby Hegedus, Nicole Hegedus; 10 great-grandchildren and sisters Barb Weinrich and Joni Steiger. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in his name. Butch will be greatly missed by his friends and family. He had a heart of gold and always put others first. He was the love of Sharon's life and a great father and grandfather.
