I went to Michigan State University on a scholarship for the track and cross country teams. I was a top runner on the team, part of the cross country Big Ten championship team in 2001, and nationally ranked in the steeplechase. I majored in Secondary English Education.
In 2004, I married Justin, and we moved to Greeley, Colorado where he pursued his PhD and I taught high school English while earning my master's degree in Secondary Education Literacy. I also coached track and cross country at the University of Northern Colorado.
We then lived in Shekou, China until 2007 and now reside in Johannesburg, South Africa, working at an international school. We have been able to travel throughout the world during this time and plan to do so for the rest of our lives.
Our newest edition to the family, Taelyn, was born in Hong Kong just this past February. She has been such a joy to watch and care for and makes for some great laughs during our travels!
