John was such a great guy and a very successful businessman with his brother, Howard. Although I went to school with him from K through 12, we really became friends after the ten year reunion. We got to be friends with John and his beautiful wife, Lydia. John battled with much dignity but ultimately lost his battle with cancer. We are still good friends with Lydia but miss John.
John was one of the nicest guys in school. He was always trying to include people in things he was involved-he was not a clique person. If it wasn't for him I would not have taken pictures for the newspaper or the yearbook. He said one day when I passed him in the hallway, "We need someone to take pictures will you please help!!" I was not even close to the photographer he was but he was such a giving soul- he knew he was a better photographer but he encouraged you anyway. He had so much positive energy. He visited Phoenix often after high school and we would get together when I was down there visiting my family in the 1980's and I became friends with his Phoenix friends. He passed away much too soon. Actually I could not believe it when I heard about it as I had no idea he was sick. This was all pre-internet days and news traveled a lot slower.

John and I went to SMU together. Whenever I think of him I smile. He could always make me laugh.
