50th Reunion Details and Reservation Forms

Event Details

Welcome to the homepage for the Riverside High School Class of 1968's 50th Reunion! The dates are August 10, 11 and 12, 2018. We look forward to seeing everyone!  Please read below for full details of our various events.

Hotel: For those traveling from out-of-state, we have arranged two discount bookings. There are 10 room nights available at both locations so please book as early as you can because we don't know how much we can expand the number of rooms at these prices. We will advise you as these opportunities are closed.

  • First, at the Quail Hollow Resort and Conference Center. The price is $129 (plus 7% tax and 8% occupancy tax) per night for Friday and Saturday night. There are 5 such reservations available but we may be able to expand the number. To make a reservation, call 440-497-1100 and ask for the "Riverside Class of '68" booking. The deadline for this opportunity is July 10, 2018. Here's a map
  • Second: the Comfort Inn on Auburn Road in Painesville. The price is $144 (plus 7% tax and 8% occupancy tax) per night for Friday and Saturday night. There are 5 such reservations available but we may be able to expand the number. To make a reservation, call 440-359-0300 and ask for Phyllis. Talk with her or leave a message, indicating you are using the Riverside High 1968 booking. The deadline to use this opportunity is June 10, 2018. Here's a map
  • We also encourage you to use online services like Priceline.com or Hotels.com to search for better prices.

Local Transportation: If you are from out of town and need transportation to any of these events, please contact us as below. For example, you arrive at the airport and don't want to rent a car, volunteers can pick you up, deliver you to friends/family or a hotel, and then help you attend the various events, and get back to the airport. Let us know!

Friday night "Meet and Greet": this is a casual come-and-go gathering with minimal name tags. Buy your own drinks, share some appetizers, and listen to the house band. In the reservation area, let us know if you (and perhaps a guest) are coming. Your "reservation" will let us tell the venue how many to expect. Deer's Leap Winery is 30 seconds south of the I90 & Rt. 534 interchange. The event starts at 5pm in the covred open patio. A live band begins at 7pm,

Saturday Morning RHS Building Tour: for those interested, Connie McFarren Stokes has arranged for a building tour of the school. Meet Connie at the Riverside Local Schools Board of Education Main Entrance at the rear of the High School 9:30am. Your "reservation" helps Connie know how many to expect and how not to leave you behind if you are late.

Saturday Noon RHS Alumni Picnic: this annual event is a gathering of any and all RHS alumni -- and a chance to meet our class members and other RHS alumni. The Alumni Association is reserving some tables for the class of 1968 inside the air-conditioned building in this township park. The park itself has been renovated and has a new pier for strolling. Local class members will bring a dish to pass for themselves, and another for our out-of-town class members who wish to attend. Again, your reservation at this event will help the local committee determine how much food to bring, and how many chairs to reserve at the picnic.

Saturday Night Dinner: Our dinner will be Saturday night at the Red Hawk Grille at I44 and Auburn Road. Tickets are $35 per person for the buffet and must be purchased in advanced by credit card or check. The menu includes salad, chicken parmesan, beef tips, roasted red potatoes, seasonal vegetables, cake (some gluten-free), and non-alcohol drinks. The reservation form includes options for vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free choices. All alcohol drinks are on  your own. There will be name tags with 1968 class photos. A live band, Andy's Last Band, will be playing era-appropriate tunes. The reception begins at 6pm, and the buffet will be served at 7pm. A short program is in development for breaks in the band's performance. Dress will be summery -- summer dresses/pants, short-sleeved shirts and sandals. Ties will be cut off and closed-toe heels will be thrown in the fountain.

Sunday Morning Golf Outing: enjoy 18 holes at the Quail Hollow Golf Club with a tee time of 10am. Green fees and cart are $75 per person, paid in advance. UPDATE: the deadline for registering for the golf outing is now July 20th, and the maximum number of players is 16. However, every player that registers and pays will play. Bring your own clubs or let us know you need to borrow some from another classmate.

Sunday Brunch: a casual come-and-go time for one last chance to talk with classmates at the Quail Hollow Resort and Conference Center, from 8:30am to noon. The price is $12 per per person (senior rate, plus tax and tip) and is paid at the door. But let us know if you plan on attending so we can advise the venue.

If you  have any questions or concerns, or have request for transportation, please contact Karen Holp by email (click on the name) or call 405-249-2872.
