Rodney Hill

I was saddened to read this morning that Ron passed away. We lived near each other during our Jordan days. I lived on Elsinore and he lived on Barbara. We joked about the fact that not only did we live close, but we were always next to each other in the yearbook: Rod Hill and Ron Hill. I remember that his mother worked in the office at Paly for a long time. I'm sure more memories will return as I think about this.

Ron lived on the same street (Barbara Dr.) that I did growing up.  He was one of those neighborhood boys that was nice to the girls--somewhat unusual in the world of 10-year olds!  I remember actually playing at his house and both our mothers thought it was a little strange but also wonderful.  I have nothing but warm thoughts and memories about Ron.  Ellen Reese Peterson

Ron Hill became my roommate my first year in college.  I kicked around for a couple of years after Paly living in a single family residence on Churchill Avenue with Jim Hendry and Steve Fritch.  Jeff McLaughlin would frequent our place during weekend parties and I mentioned to him that I was headed to Colorado State in September (1965).  He said that Ron was leaving UoP and also going to CSU because his then current girlfriend was going to transfer there.  I contacted Ron’s mom and she put me in touch with Ron.  He had booked a room at the Sigma Nu fraternity house just off campus and was looking for a roommate.  He eventually became a Naval aviator and lived in Texas with his wife.  When I was in Texas on business I attempted to contact him and his mom said he had passed away from a heart attack.

During our second year at CSU I lived in a single family home just off campus.  Ron came to me and asked if I was headed home for Thanksgiving and I said no because my girlfriend (now wife) from Redwood City was coming to visit over that holiday  Ron then offered to purchase all of the items necessary for a Thanksgiving feast if my GF would cook it for him and his roommate (and we could keep the leftovers).  I (we??) jumped on the idea - turkey, beer and football on TV - it doesn't get any better!

Ron was a very conscientious person and always ready to go and have a beer (or two).
