Mark Remmel

Mark's Obituary:
Mark Remmel, 44, a lifelong resident of Palo Alto, died July 7 due to complications from a rare form of AML, M-7 Leukemia.

Born in 1957, he was a graduate of Palo Alto High school and received his B.S. in Urban Planning and Development from the University of California, Berkeley.

He and his wife, Marina, were childhood friends who grew to love one another by the time they were seniors in high school. The two of them stayed together in a lifelong relationship which was an inspiration to the Remmel family and friends.

He was involved in multiple community projects both through the schools and local athletic programs. He was compassionate and committed to activities involving youth in Palo Alto and was recognized in the community for his efforts.

He and his blue Ford extended cab pickup were recognized fixtures at athletic fields, and the local elementary and middle schools. In between raising his family and community endeavors, he was a general contractor that specialized in older homes restoration and remodeling throughout Palo Alto.

He is survived by his wife, Marina of Palo Alto; and three children, Brett, Nikki and Trevor; his mother, Jeannette Remmel of Palo Alto; siblings, Annette Letts of Morgan Hill, Ron Remmel of Los Altos, Georgia Santos of Los Altos and Linda McGregor of Palo Alto.

A memorial service has been held.
