Comments:

After college I began working for the Postal Service as a Letter Carrier in Downtown Long Beach Ca.. I did that for 12 years and moved into management for the remaining 21 years, retiring in Oct. 2006. With a pending divorce and the need to supplement my income I began working for a company that prepares quality food for large businesses, such as Broadcom in Irvine where I work now, as a Cook/Baker. Although married for 22 years I have raised my two daughters from birth practically by myself, and am looking forward to moving to Hawaii to get into warm water full time. I've been to Costa Rica once, Tonga three times and Fiji twice on surfing trips, besides Hawaii many occasions. The South Pacific is far more beautiful than Hawaii. If you have the chance...by all means go. Fiji, the cook Islands, Tahiti, Samoa, it's all good. Retirement is worth working for. Best of luck to all in your endeavors, and so sorry to see those classmates who have passed on. BL

Robert Frazier Laws has left an In Memory comment for Steve Minium.

I attended all 3 schools with Steve.  We were fortunate in 6th Grade to be selected to appear on the Art Linkletter's "House Party" show, along with Norman Finn, and Theresa DiLeo(who didn't remain in the Paramount School District, so she couldn't be contacted with the sad news about Steve).

Steve and I were casual friends at times and somewhat close at other times and I always thought of him to be mature, and someone to look up to.  I liked him a lot.

As it's typical of some of our friendships that were made in our early years, our paths take us in different directions as our lives evolve, and learning about his life of late I would have enjoyed keeping in touch.

He was kind of like the Big Brother I never had, although he didn't pick on me like Big Brothers are inclined to do.

His passing was very sudden, and regardless of life in general being what it is, way too soon.  It's obvious that he accomplished many things to be regarded as a fine person, as we all should remember him.

I wish his family well and that more happy stories come their way as a comfort that he will be remebered fondly.

My prayers are with you all.

Aloha.  Bob Laws

In 9th grade Phil.told me a story I have shared with others over the years. He had Wood Shop with Mr. Zaby, and every day upon Phil's entrance into the classroom Mr. Zaby would ask Phil..'Hey Mc Coy...does a Billy Goat stink?' Phil had no answer for several days when asked the question, until finally one day, in a spontaneous moment when Mr. Zaby was very close and asked this nutty question..Phil leaned in, gave Mr. Zaby two quick sniffs, and answered..'Yes'! He said Mr. Zaby chased him around the room!
