Obituary for Phillip James Jenkins
Phillip James Jenkins was born on May 11, 1950 to Dorothy and Clive Jenkins in Wales, Great Britain. Phillip and his family made the journey to America in 1956 on the R.M.S Ascania to Ellis Island. Phillip’s father, Clive, was a Carpenter and his mother Dorothy, was a homemaker. Phillip’s brother Wayne, was born in 1962 and completed the Jenkins family. The Jenkins family called Long Beach, CA their home where Phillip graduated from Paramount High School and attended Long Beach City College for 1 year. Over the years, Phillip worked various jobs at McDonald’s and KFC until he joined the Air Force and was stationed in Vietnam on April 28th of 1969. Phillip served in the Vietnam war as a radio operator specialist. Phillip served in the Air Force in Vietnam until 1973 and was honorably discharged from the Air Force Reserves in 1975.

In 1973, Phillip met his wife Janice at a party in Long Beach, CA. It was love at first sight and the two married on April 19, 1975. The pair raised one child, Christy, who was the apple of her father’s eye. Philip worked as a relocation specialist for over 40 years moving families all across California and the West Coast. He was a hardworking man and always made sure his family was taken care of. His daughter Christy, went on to marry her husband Robert and they raised two children, and Phillip’s only two grandchildren, Kylie and Justin. Phillip was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Phillip enjoyed spending time with his family boating in Lake Havasu City, AZ and was a season seat holder for NHRA drag racing. He had a passion for music, specifically rock and roll and was always the life of every party. His laughter and smile lit up any room he walked into and was known for his big moustache. Phillip was a selfless person and was always there to lend a helping hand. Phillip’s passing will leave a huge void in our hearts forever but we will continue to remember and cherish all the special memories we had with him.

Prayers for Janice, Christy and family.  Phil, Janice, Kim and I used to socialize quite often until we moved to Idaho we always had fun getting together.  Phil was a hard worker first with Pacific Van Lines then Grabel for years they used to sponsor our softball team.
