Finally - it is official... 30th Year Reunion For Parsippany High School's Class of 1985

Both Mike Hornyak and Robin Coe Hanna asked me to refrain from publicly thanking them.

But it would be a monumental oversight if I didn’t. In a literal sense, this event would not be a reality without Mike Hornyak.  Against legal advice, he signed the event contract with the Sheraton Tara.  This places personal liability on Mike.  Further, Mike put up the deposit and has spent hours dealing with the Tara over a myriad of issues.

As I have expressed previously, Robin Coe Hanna has gone way above and beyond in doing all the necessary work to set up the processes to make the event go smoothly.  She has been the driving force for overcoming all the procedural challenges we faced.

Both Mike and Robin have been consistently positive and have acted from a spirit of trying to get the class together rather than trying to forge a reunion that suited their personal tastes. All that matters is that we get to spend time with people that we care about.  Mike and Robin embodied that ethos throughout our work together. They deserve special commendation.

To register, click on the "Class of 85 - 30th Reunion" menu button on the left of this page.

Let the games begin and start registering under class of 1985 - 30th reunion.  We did our best to accomodate, price and venue for maximum participation. We'd prefer not to get an onslaught of last minute registrants so the head count can be tracked appropriately.

Thanks,

Michael

To those who put this together, my sincere thanks.  Great effort and I'm sure it will be a terrific event.  One quick question - to whom do we send the pre-payment?

Hey There Fellow Classmates,

I have been following along and I want to thank everyone who was involved with setting this up and to those who made suggestions as well. Kudos to all and a big kudos to Mike & Robin with their above and beyond to put the final touches on it.

I just emailed my contact info and that I will be going. May or may not have a date with me as I am going thru a divorce. But, hopefully I have one by then.. I have some time...LOL.

Anyway, even though I have some of you on my FB, it will be great to catch up with everyone.

Look forward to it.

Pete

Rob - on the left side of the page you will see a tab that says "Class of '85 - 30th Reunion".  If you click on that tab you will then see at the top of the page a box where you can purchase tickets.  Hope this helps.

Classmates -

It's with a heavy heart that I inform you all of the Passing of Ed Schwartz early this morning.  Ed fought a long, courageous  and galant battle against leukemia and, in the end, he went out on his own terms.  I've known Ed for 43 years and although we drifted apart, as many of us do, his loss saddens me beyond words.

Rage, rage against the dying of the light!  Rest in peace, old friend.

I've just bought my ticket.  I missed the last reunion in 2010, a very rough year, with my brother dying after a short illness detected too late (cancer).  What a difference 5 years has made in recovering from that low point in my life.   I look forward to attending the 30th, along with my younger sister Ellen.  We both live in the Boston area, where I came to in 1988 after finishing college.  I've been working all these years in woodworking.  I'll bring along some of the small things I make, www.facebook.com/kosticks.  Ellen and I are looking forward to seeing old classmates.  I'm hoping for a good turnout!  -Jane Greenberg Kostick

Hey Everyone,

On this day of rememberance, I feel compelled to send a reunion reminder...

Keep spreadin' the word, then send your own reservation in for the reunion.

Can't wait to see everyone.

XO,

L

We are about a month out from the reunion with good response.  Register whenever you like and we will have a mechanism to collect at the door..  Thanks for for the support.... It should be fun...

Robin Coe (Hanna)

To add to Michael's post - the ticket cost is currently $75 per person until September 30th.  After that ticket prices increase to $85 per person.  It would be a lot more helpful if people would register prior to September 30th so we can provide a better head count to the Sheraton for food.

I have had quite a few people reach out to me to ask if spouses/significant others are coming to the reunion.   Predominantly, most of those who have already registered are coming solo.  That's not to say that you can't bring your spouse/significant other but it's just how the trend seems to be going.

As I've said previously and will reiterate once more - a reunion is about getting together and reminicsing with people you grew up with. I realize that not everyone had the best of high school experiences.  Heck most of us probably didn't.  Also, people change - it's been 30 years - haven't you changed since you left high school?  Maybe you didn't hang out with them because they were part of a different crowd but it's 30 years later and in this day and age you should think about what you have in common (kids, careers, signficant others, etc) rather than how that person acted as a teenager.

Thanks to all those that have registered.  I know it is tough to dedicate time in today's fast moving environment with spouses, children and jobs, however I'm glad that we have a wonderful group committed.

If you can make it, we'd love to see you and it you can't, we still love ya.

I do think from talking to Robin and Daryl that there will be a bunch of folks that register last minute which will provide some nice old memories as well as new one's.

I am excited and glad to be part of this class.

We have 28 people with spouses or guest and should have another 15 to 20.  Not to bad considering we were not going to have a reunion as well.  I appreciate all of you folks.

Thank you,

Michael

Don't forget - today is the last day to get your tickets to the reunion at the lower rate of $75 per person.  Tomorrow the rate increases to $85 per person.  Please buy your ticket by clicking on the "Class of '85 - 30th Reunion" tab on the left side of the page.  We would prefer tickets to be purchased via this method prior to October 14th.  Hope to see yo there on October 17th at the Sheraton Tara!

Robin Coe (Hanna)

We are a little more than a week away from the 30th Reunion celebration!  Tickets are still available for purchase through the class creator website at a cost of $85 per person.  It's a quick easy way to pay for your ticket ahead of the event and not have to worry about paying at the door.

Right now we have almost 40 people who have pre-paid for their tickets.  There are another potentially 25+ people who have indicated they are interested in attending.  It looks like this could be a really great turnout for this reunion.  We would love to have a more accurate headcount to provide to the hotel - so the sooner you can give us a definite answer as to whether you will be attending that would be greatly appreciated.

See everyone on the 17th!

Hey All,

Hope all is well with everyone.

I really would love to come, especially since I haven't been to the other ones. But I have had a lot going on and just can't afford to make the trip. Initially I was set for it and thought I had funds available, but unfortunately, life got in the way.

Hope everyone has a great time and look forward to seeing pics and the responses from the get together.

Take Care,

Pete

Hi!

It is a year later already from the last event.  I have a quick suggestion so that we have unity in the class and let the folks who had some involvement in the pre-reunion plan the next event.  I don't even know at this point if anyone is interested but it would be good to see every person.  I'm not sure what the plans are but I would like to see everyone.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Michael

Funny you should write this message today, Michael.  I don't know why, but on and off all day I've been thinking about people from Parsippany.  The reunion last year was more fun than I could have imagined.  I loved reconnecting with old friends and even making some new ones.  -Jane
