Harold Sovereign Vaughn "Grandpa Bozo", age 74 of Payette, passed away in his home on Sunday, March 26th, 2017. Born August 5th, 1942 in Ontario, OR to George Vaughn and Marie Stewart Gerlach. Harold was raised by his mother and step-father Max Gerlach on the family farm at the end of Dutch Lane where he and his two brothers, Charles and Jim, grew up enjoying farm life. He attended Payette High School, after which he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and proudly served for six years. He received an Honorable Discharge as a Lance Corporal in 1967. He was married to Sharron Young and had one daughter, Becky Vaughn; they later divorced. He married again to Deanna Rambough gaining two step-children, Chris and Michelle and they too later divorced.

After working for 30 years at the Idaho Transportation Department he acquired many friends and "road goodies" before his retirement. He spent his days with friends and family hunting, fishing, mushroom and arrowhead hunting, and camping up at Butter Gulch. Harold was an avid bass fisherman and was known for his 1987 red Skeeter bass boat named "Quickie" and being a mentor and spreading the love and knowledge for the sport of bass fishing. There was a special place in his heart for events such as Catch A Special Thrill (C.A.S.T), Conservation Day for Kids, and several others that allowed him to make an impact and inspire others to enjoy his passion. For the past 30 years Harold was able to fish numerous tournaments with his brother Jim, step-son Chris, and daughter Becky. Harold was an amazing grandfather and made a commitment to teach his three grandchildren how to fish and enjoy the outdoors. Harold spent his last day on this Earth competing in the Idaho Bass Masters fishing tournament on Brownlee Reservoir where he placed 5th and won his last check.

He was a founding member of the Meechan's Renegades and enjoyed having morning coffee with his "Meechan's Family", where they shared many fishing stories and many tall tales.

Harold is preceded in death by his mother, father, step-father, and two older brothers. He is survived by his daughter Becky Jo Vaughn Stratton (Cal Fisher), step-son Chris Rambough (Stacy), and step-daughter Michelle Rhinehart; grandson Austin "Bozo Junior" Stratton (Kenzie Dalton), granddaughter Kaitlyn "Pack Rat" Stratton (Richie Kyro), step-grandson Corey Rambough, step-grandson Caleb Rhinehart; and lifelong best friend Leroy Atwood.
