In Memory

Spencer Burnette

It is with the heaviest of hearts that I must announce the passing of our beloved brother and friend, Spencer Burnette from the PHS Class of 1967. I am deeply and profoundly sad as Spencer became not only a friend but the best kind of friend to me. Actually, he was friend to all. He lived an exemplary life serving our country in the U.S. Army retiring as a Lt. Colonel. I believe he epitomizes both an officer and a gentleman. He was full of wonderful wisdom and grace and dignity. As sad as I am to no longer be able to be the recipient of his wisdom, I will move forward taking his words with me and trying to always do as Spencer would have done. He truly was a gift and if you were fortunate enough to know him, you know exactly what I am talking about.

Rest in Peace, Sir. It was an honor.

Dear Carol, Inger and Brittany, On behalf of all who attended our reunions, please accept our deepest condolences. Carry Spencer in your hearts and he will forever remain with you. May you find peace knowing how well loved Spencer was and is.

Once the obituary is published, I will post it as well as the link for those who want to virtually attend his funeral.

Betsy

UPDATE: Spencer's daughter posted the service will be live streamed tomorrow morning, Saturday April 29th at 9:15 am CDT which is 10:15 am east coast time for those of you who want to pay your respects.

I did not have the pleasure of knowing Spencer very well in school, but have gotten to know him through FB.  He was a kind and gentle soul and will be missed by many...
