Irene "Tish" Patricia Magalski
FISHKILL - Irene "Tish" Magalski died suddenly at her home on Tuesday, May 27, 2008. Irene had been a Dutchess County resident since 1977. She will be remembered as an extremely proud mother, doting grandmother devoted sister a loving friend and a relentless advocate for disadvantaged children. Irene began her career that would help countless, as a caseworker for the Department of Social Services in Putnam County. Taking notice of her strong spirit and dedication she quickly moved up the ranks to become the Director. Next, Irene was called upon from the state level of Social Services in Albany, which lead her into the position of Deputy Commissioner of Social Services and Welfare Reform, she retired in December of 2007, only five months ago. In her retirement Irene was most enjoying the time she spent with her family, especially her youngest granddaughter, Alexis with whom she shared so many precious memories. Not ever one to take a break, Tish has began consulting for the Dutchess County Community Action Agency, mostly focusing her attention on children. Born September 11, 1951 in the Bronx, Tish was the daughter of the late, Jerome and Margaret Kehoe Albert. She graduated from Dominican College in Bleauvelt, NY but she never stopped learning. In 1974 she married Thomas Magalski. She and Tom raised two beautiful daughters, Tiffany and Tara although they did not remain "married" they always remained friends. Her daughter Tiffany and husband Robert Bruno of Poughkeepsie and her daughter Tara Magalski of NYC are left to cherish her memory. Irene is also survived by her grandchildren Izabella, Dominic and Alexis Bruno, sisters, Barbara Foster of California, Rita Mulvey who lived only four doors down from her beloved sister, a brother, Msgr. Rev. Richard Albert of Jamaica, West Indies, and her best friend and sidekick, Marcie Cullen of Fishkill. Calling Hours will be from 3-8 on Thursday, May 29, 2008 at Robert H. Auchmoody Funeral Homes, Inc., 1028 Main Street, Fishkill, NY 12524. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Friday. There will be a party immediately after in Tish's honor. We loved her dearly and she will never be forgotten.
