Mary Lee Cureton

Mary Lee Cureton was born on February 10, 1948 in Rockhill, SC to Robert Crosby and Willie Mae Cureton. She entered eternal rest on Monday, September 12, 2011 with her two children by her side.

Ms. Cureton moved to Peekskill, NY at the age of 16 and graduated from Peekskill High School in 1966. She became employed at the Veterans Hospital in Montrose, NY in April 1967, and remained a dedicated employee for forty years retiring in 2007. Her professional experience included being a Certified Nursing Assistant and progressed to a Rehabilitation Technician in the Substance Abuse and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Programs.

Mary gave birth to two children, Crystal "Peaches" Cureton and Brian "Buck" Cureton.

Ms. Cureton enjoyed being a dedicated mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Her hobbies included going to garage sales, listening and dancing to music, and hosting parties for her family and friends. One of her special gifts was listening to others and placing their needs before her own.

Mary Cureton is predeceased by both of her parents, one sister, and two brothers. She is survived by her daughter and son, Crystal and Brian Cureton respectively, grandchildren Takira Langhorn, Tiera Cureton, Brian Cureton Jr., and Mya Cureton as well as her great-grandson Mahki Gilleo. She was also survived by her sister Lillian P. Cureton and brothers Samuel Cureton, Eddie Cureton, and Donald Cureton all of Peekskill, NY; as well as a host of other cherished family members in South Carolina.

Throughout her life, Mary treated anyone she came in contact with as her family and she will be dearly missed by everyone she touched and blessed with her kindness and love.

Homegoing services celebrating the life of Mary Lee Cureton were held Friday, September 16th at the E.O. Curry Funeral Home, 313 N. James Street, Peekskill, followed by interment in the Hillside Cemetery, Cortlandt Manor.
