Benjamin Armen

Benjamin Armen

We're sad to notify you of the death of one of our fellow 1989 PHS classmates.  Benjamin (Ben) Armen passed away in May of 2016. He is survived by his wife, Amy Armen; daughter, Ava Armen; parents, Karl and Dorothy; brother, Jonathan Armen and family.

Ben was a pilot, grounded in 2009 when he was diagnosed with cancer. Though they took away his medical license to fly, they could not take away his ability or his love of flying. He battled cancer for seven years, trying many traditional and alternative treatments. Ben greatly valued his wife and daughter, always wanting to "live one more day" to be with them. He was brave and tough, inspiring many with his Christ-like attitude.

Our prayers and thoughts go out to the Armen family with our deepest sympathy,

Pflugerville High School Class of 1989

I'm so sorry to hear of the passing of our friend and classmate Ben. My prayers are with his parents, friends, famly and of course his wife Amy and daughter Ava.

For Ben, an avid pilot, I would like to honor him with a pilot's creed:

I believe in flying, man's noble inheritance from the Supreme Being which enables me to view the wonder of the Universe from a high vantage point, exceeded only by infinity.  Through this experience I have humility in the knowledge that I am but one of insignificance among so many who are truly great.

I know that the upper tradewinds, as they blow, many slow my progress through the sky while they enhance the groundspeed of another on the opposite heading, but that I may benefit on the return flight.

I believe that man was destined to fly and I have wings.  May these wings chart the course toward an unclouded horizon and the betterment of generations yet to come.

Ben, may you forever fly!

With Love, Amy Lasker Sibley
