Nanette Marie Gwaltney Obituary

Nanette Marie Gwaltney 66, passed away with peace and grace on April 6, 2017, with her family by her side. Nan was born in Ely, NV on April 29, 1950 and moved to Phoenix, AZ when she was a small child. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Gwaltney , her son, Scott Gwaltney (Cher), sisters, Karrie Jessen (Mike) and Kathy Mayberry (Kirby), and brother, Mitchell Callahan (Lisa). Nan is also survived by 6 grandchildren who she adored, Deanna, Jaden, Dylan, Kyrstin, Landyn and Jenner. Nan was preceded in death by her loving daughter, Kimberly Miller and her parents, Albert and Alice Solferino. 30 years ago, Nan joined the Callahan family after her father, Albert married Ann Callahan. Being an only child, Nan was ecstatic to now have two sisters and two brothers. The Callahan family was elated to add another sister to the family and loved Nan from the moment they met her. Nan worked as an executive secretary at Honeywell for 33 years. She also played on a competitive softball team for Honeywell and was an incredible fast pitch pitcher. Nan enjoyed watching her children play sports while they were young and often was their coach. Later in her life, she loved going to watch her grandchildren play sports. The Gwaltney family has a deep foundation in St. Simon and Jude Parish in Phoenix. Nan was a strong woman of faith and her calm spirit was no doubt a result of casting her burdens to prayer. Nan was a natural people person; she had a kind, welcoming demeanor which resulted in many lifelong friends. She was authentic and genuine and always found the good in every person or situation. She touched the hearts of everyone who knew her and made our lives better just by being in it. A spirit like Nan's will be so tremendously missed. How blessed is Heaven to have gained such a wonderful soul.
